Best Crunchy Chili Oil Recipe

You can put this crunchy chili oil on basically everything, but my favorite way is on cottage cheese! I will link that recipe above!
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c oil (I use avacado)
  • 1-2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4-1/2 c red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos or soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp onion powder or flakes
  • 1-2 tsp paprika
  • 1-2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar

Method

  1. Heat your oils (avacado & sesame oil) in a pot to 330 F.
  2. Combine ALL other ingredients in a bowl that can withstand the heat of the oil. I recommend using a deep bowl so the oil doesn't get everywhere.
  3. When the oil is to the right temperature, slowly pour it over the mixture in the bowl and mix it around. It's going to sizzle, so be careful. You may even want to wear an oven mitt pouring the oil into the bowl. It's really not as scary as I am making it out to be but I'd rather you be aware it does pop and sizzle. Frying bacon on a stovetop is WAY scarier!
  4. Let it sit until cooled, and put in a jar to store. I have kept mine in my pantry for weeks and haven't had a problem! Of course if you see mold or if it starts smelling rancid, it's definately time to toss it.
  5. Use on eggs, toast, noodles, vegetables, and so much more!
