Escape Lukewarm Living: Embrace a Life in Christ

When are you going to stop being so lukewarm? Does the thought of Jesus coming back not instill the fear of God in you?

You tell yourself, oh it won’t be in my lifetime, I’m good! Even if that’s true, what’s saying you don’t die tomorrow?

I think there needs to be a healthy level of fear of The Lord to keep you on track. It’s so easy to fall back into old lifestyles or simply never getting out of your bad lifestyle. The minute you start making those sort of excuses, you are falling backwards. It’s easier to keep ahead, rather than trying to start from the bottom each time you stumble. Yes, Jesus will pick you up when you stumble, but you also have to put effort in. No one is saying that following Jesus is easy, it’s actually very hard. And that’s why so many won’t do it and make it to heaven. Your flesh is strong, but remember He is stronger and wants to help you. Your sin is not freedom as much as you think it is, it is actually enslaving you.

A lot will say if God is so good, why would we FEAR Him? This type of fear is a form of protection. Think of Him as a loving human father who is strict. He’s only strict because He wants to keep you safe. And when you get older, it’s easier to see why your father did things you considered strict and wouldn’t let you do certain things. A earthly father has been through things and wants to spare you the heartache he had to go through. And you might not even be able to see his perspective until you’re older or have been a father or mother yourself. Our Heavenly Father is very similar, except He knows all and He knows how things will end up 100%.

You think you’re a good person and do good things for others, but let me tell you straight up. If you don’t have Jesus in your heart, you will not inherit eternal life.

Some will say “I know a lot of Christian people that do all these bad things, so you’re telling me I won’t go to heaven but they will??”. Well let me tell you that those are wolf in sheep’s clothing, not sheep in sheep’s clothing, and are just as bad if not worse than the unbeliever. .. They do not actually have Jesus in their heart. (Matthew 7:15, 2 Corinthians 11)

You cannot get to heaven by your good works, no matter how much you try convincing yourself of that. BUT faith without good works is dead. (James 2:14-25) Meaning if you do not let Him transform you and help give you good fruits, you’re as good as an unbeliever. The good fruits would be having patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, love, joy, peace, self control, gentleness. (Galatians 5:22)So stop using that as an excuse to not follow The Lord. You need to let Him in so He can change your heart, so your eyes can be opened and you can stop your wicked ways.

And this also leads to sinning. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said “ You shall not commit adultery” (cheating on your spouse), also said “You shall not murder”. If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. (James 2:10)

All the things you do, you might think oh it’s fine it’s not THAT bad. It actually might be. You see, evil wicked ways cannot make their way into heaven. God gave us a choice to follow Him. His hopes were that we would live lives that follow Him but since Adam and Eve, that was not the case. He did give us free will, because forced love is not real love. You have to WANT to love Jesus enough to sacrifice these unholy things in your life just as He sacrificed His LIFE for us.

The time to purge these things from your life is now, the movement is “do what makes you happy” needs to change to “do what pleases The Lord”. And yes, that means denying your flesh. No offense, but we are not our own, we breathe life from Him. Everyone now a days thinks we are entitled to doing all these things for ourselves that pleases our flesh and that we should put ourselves first. I used to believe that until I saw how amazing of a person I can be with Jesus by my side.

You are going to asked to sacrifice these things that your flesh loves. Drinking, smoking, addictions of any kind, lust, gluttony, sex outside of marriage, idolatry (this can be whatever you choose to do and put on a higher importance than reading the word or spending time with The Lord-often times mindless scrolling now a days), jealousy, anger, rage, selfish ambition, witchcraft, envy.

And it’s not going to be easy, but if you don’t, you will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven.

Why would you want to go to heaven where God is everywhere and everything all at once when you don’t want to live for Him in this life? What makes you think you’ll suddenly change your heart? He wants a RELATIONSHIP with you NOW. It’s not a bribe, no one is forcing you. But at least give some thought to life in the deepest way before it’s too late.

I was blind, but now I can see.
