she’s now all of a sudden “religious” : ex new age

New age spirituality. Lets just call it what it is :witchcraft masquerading as ‘light’

This is for those that are involved in new age spirituality. Even if you’re not, it could give you insight to understanding friends/family who are. This post is NOT to get you riled up. To be completely honest, I don’t really even want to share this but I know I have to. That alone should tell you the truth in it. If I didn’t believe any of this was true there is no way I’d put myself out there on the line like this!!!! I am willing to lose things if that means I can help lead someone to Jesus. Hear me out, I’ve never been more sincere in wanting to help others SEE. Jesus can and will transform your mind and heart, if you let Him. Let’s be honest here. You might get defensive at what I am about to tell you, but I have authority to do so. Not only because I was in your position, but because I am covered by the blood of Jesus.

I was blind, but now I can see

You might know someone that seems like they became “religious” overnight. They like to say you’ve joined a cult or are in religious psychosis, rather than the possibility of it actually being true. The name of Jesus really triggers people!

I say ‘religious’ loosely because I am talking about being a Christian and following Jesus. I don’t follow religion, I follow Jesus. I’m sorry to those who have been hurt by the church, understand that is not Jesus! I had this mentality until I was THAT girl who flipped a switch. Yup I’m that girl. Can you guess which girl has Jesus in her heart??? Just because I was not an evil person, doesn’t mean I didn’t get myself involved in seemingly harmless activities that were inherently evil.

I was just going through life doing whatever “I wanted”, no one was going to tell ME how to live MY life.

I used to be that girl who was thinking about the next time she could go the bar again while she was currently at the bar. I was just going through life doing whatever “I wanted”, no one was going to tell ME how to live MY life. More like doing everything I could to escape from this reality. And then I started learning about spirituality and new age witchcraft. And yes I did dabble in that. I did not consider myself a witch, but I did participate in things like crystals (moldavite), and a few other “new age rituals”. And they did things in my life that showed me the spiritual world is real, but it wasn’t coming from Jesus. It’s so far in my past I barely remember it all and that’s okay cause I don’t really want to. I had nothing to live for and just was searching for anything to make it feel like I had some sort of meaning on this earth.

I was searching for something more, and that’s how I got sucked into new age.

POINT IS: If you are involved in new age spirituality/witch type of things, YOU ARE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK!

I know some people are very involved in witchcraft. Even if that’s the case, you are not too far gone for Jesus. You truly just need to switch your perspective from “the universe” did this or that TO “God/Jesus”. Accept that you don’t have these magical powers, and if anything comes from your witchcraft it’s coming from Satan.

Oh, but I’m a light worker! I don’t do any evil spells/rituals.

Did you know that Satan masqueraded himself as an angel of light? (2 corinthians 11:14) Sorry to tell you, but it doesn’t matter what you think. It’s not harmless. He will use any way he can to pull you away from God. That is still coming from Satan. We are humans, we have no power, and that has to come from somewhere spiritual you know? So tell me the source you use then, cause it has to be something spiritual to work, if that makes sense.

“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers masquerading as apostles of Christ, And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.”

When you accept Jesus, and receive The Holy Spirit, things are going to happen too.

Good things, because that is The Lord Jesus. If you don’t think being a Christian is spiritual, you have no idea what it is then! We are spiritual beings living in these “flesh suits” that allow us to be here on earth. Everything is going to start shifting after you accept Jesus and receive The Holy Spirit (a gift!!).

Something very important to remember is that when amazing things happen, it’s not YOU, it’s The Lord working through you. For example, praying for someone and they are healed. You did not heal them, The Lord healed them through you and your obedience & faith. Don’t look to be praised when something like that happens, praise Jesus.

Following Jesus is VERY SPIRITUAL. Believe me when I say that the first time you feel The Holy Spirit you are probably going to cry. I know I did. And just because we feel the presence stronger at some times than others doesn’t mean He’s not there 24/7!! And understanding there is something bigger and more powerful that created us. And The Holy Spirit LIVES within those who accept Jesus. And do you know THAT is God that lives within us? We’re talking the same power that raised Jesus from THE DEAD lives in us. Don’t get that twisted with thinking YOU are God, which is new age mentality.

What living thing has not come from life itself? This is a quote that was a big part of me finding Jesus.

Sober me now can see how heavy and thick those chains of my sins were on me. A lot of people think following Jesus is a bunch of rules and don’t consider it freedom. It doesn’t all happen overnight. Sometimes I hear something and wonder why God did this or that and it sometimes doesnt sit right with me. Once I pray for my mind to be renewed, He will help you understand.

Just like the sins I used to be involved in, He took the taste right out of my mouth no joke. I have no desire for any of the sins I used to commit on a daily basis. I have no other explanation for waking up one day and my desire being completely gone when I wasn’t able to live a day without whatever it was. Do you realize these things that you do and can’t go long without them, that isn’t freedom?

But what I don’t consider freedom is all of the things I used to do that I couldn’t live without.

I wasn’t grateful, thankful, I just always needed more of what the world could offer me. Senseless things that had no meaning. I did view it as a lot of rules, but the closer I got to Jesus the more I understood WHY we are supposed to do and not do certain things. The Lord will renew your mind and remove veils so you can see why He wants things a certain way, that part you can’t do alone! And I actually am happy to act a certain way now because of my love for Jesus and His unconditional love for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a sinner, we all are and sometimes we trip. I don’t want this post to come across as me thinking I’m perfect or more worthy than someone else. No one is actually worthy of Jesus! But He picks us back up anyway.

Sin feels like freedom until you try to stop. This was another quote that helped dig me out of the hole i was in.

That’s the line that challenged me. I thought I was going to prove it wrong, and turns out that it’s not as easy as you think. That’s when I couldn’t deny it was true. It helped me understand I was actually being held down by all of my drinking, smoking and new age spirituality. And whatever else nonsense I was filling my time with.

It’s not an easy thing to understand if you have not opened your mind and heart to the possibility of God, and that Jesus really do exist. Not just any god but God, eternal, all knowing, all powerful.

You also have to want to know and want to make a change in your life. Someone else can’t want it for you, it has to come from YOU’RE heart to know truth.

The problem is, people like the old me get really triggered by talking about Jesus. If you read that and got fired up inside, something in your spirit needs to be evaluated. I know this because I was like that. You probably had someone in your life try to push you into Christianity. And now you are very turned off by it all.

Don’t roll your eyes when I say this, but they really didn’t mean to do it the way they did and they likely didn’t have ill intent. I pray whoever reads this understands what I’m saying even if it isn’t until they’ve accepted Jesus. If they are anything like me, when you accept Jesus in your heart, you are so moved and become a better person and find so much joy even in hard times. You just want that for everyone around you too. I think lot of Christians don’t understand the difference between sharing the gospel/planting seeds, and what would be considered forcing someone to understand in the way you do.

As Christians here is what we have to remember. Is love truly love if it’s forced? No. You have to come to that conclusion all on your own. What we ARE supposed to do is plant seeds and let God do the rest. Pray that they want to seek The Lord on their own and find a longing in their heart.

I knew when I had trouble saying “Jesus” that something was off.

Why did it feel so wrong or taboo to say His name? This alone made me want to look into it more. I was/am a con$pir@cy obsessed. I say “was” because it took over my life and made me such an anxious person. I say “am” because I would believe you if you told me any bad stuff that’s going on, because I know how far the rabbit hole goes. But I know I can’t look into whatever it is because

1. I get too consumed by it. What can we do about it? Nothing

2.I am not digging myself in a hole again, addiction isn’t just drugs and alcohol, it can be anything. And I’m not giving myself even “just a little sip of it”.

Another thing that was stopping me from starting to read the Bible was the thought of the Bible being changed, or books taken out, etc.

Here’s what I can tell you. Since God is all knowing, He knows/knew what was going to happen with the Bible. What’s in it is MORE THAN ENOUGH to show you that it’s truth. But here’s the real secret. Having a relationship with Him. That’s right, you can talk to Him. Your prayers don’t just go up into space, and I have my own evidence of this, and have shared some of my testimonies and will continue to as I feel called to.

You need to start praying and talking to Jesus. Everything is going to shift when you do this, and if you haven’t prayed before it might feel weird the first few times but it will start to feel right very soon. I talk to Him everyday. If you don’t know this, Jesus’ death allowed us to be gifted The Holy Spirit. The SAME power that rose Jesus from the dead lives inside of us. We can directly talk to God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

It’s a long story but they used to have to do animal sacrifices for when people sinned because sin = death, so that was payment for sins. But since Jesus came, died, shed His blood, and rose from the dead, He was the ultimate sacrifice. It allows us to be forgiven because He took all of the sins on Himself. That’s just very simplified.

Once you dig deep and try to find faults, you actually end up finding more proof of His existence.

And the fact that ‘weird things’ that you would normally call a ‘coincidence’, are no longer coincidences, but rather it is God. I sincerely think they made up the word coincidence to pull people away from the idea God is real and alive and still doing things this day and age. I promise you, I am still amazed by the things He does in my life almost daily.

The next step is letting go of your own control and letting Him do it for you. I didn’t learn that right away, but when I did, big things that I’ve wanted for years started to come to pass.

The real truth is, we actually don’t have any control at all in the first place! We just make ourselves feel like we have a sense of control.

I’m not here to convince you. I’m here to try to show you that there is a better way with proof. Who I am today is proof we have a loving and merciful God. But The Lord gave us free will because of how much He loves us. He also knows that real love isn’t real love if it’s forced and that’s not what He wants.

But that’s for next time, looking forward to it.
