How to Make Perfect Foccacia: Easy Guide
Of all ways you can eat Foccacia, this recipe works perfectly for my Ultimate Summer Foccacia Sandwich!! This is perfect to eat just on its own, or pair it with some herbs & dipping oils!

To make this Foccacia, all you’ll need is
- Flour
- Water
- Instant Yeast – I just buy the packets
- Salt – I just buy Celtic Salt (click to go to my Amazon link), and grind it down for most recipes with a mortar and pestle
- Seasoning salt – I personally use Salt Sisters Lemon Rosemary it’s seriously the best. Click on the name to be directed to my Amazon link
- Herb mixture – I love Trader Joe’s Soffrito Herb mix. Not sure where to find a comparable option
- Oil – Personally I use Avocado oil for EVERYTHING because it is neutral taste and doesn’t hurt my stomach like olive oil unfortunately
The instructions for this Foccacia are as follows:
- Put 2c of All Purpose Flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 pack instant yeast, 1 tbsp oil and 1c lukewarm water in a big bowl.
- Mix together until it forms a sticky ball, and drizzle some oil on top. Cover and let sit for 1 hour.
- Knead the dough or stretch and folds for 2-3 mins.
- Put back in bowl, cover and let sit for another hour.
- Optional step: I didn’t do this personally, but i believe you can do 1-2 more rounds of the previous step for fluffier outcome. I’ll try it next time and report back.
- Transfer to your oiled baking dish, I use about a 7×13 inch dish. Do some tuck and folds so it creates a nice rectangle sitting in the dish. Cover and let sit about 20 mins. Preheat your oven to 425 F
- Now put your herb seasoning and salt on the dough, and also oil it heavily. Id say 3 ish tbsp. You can watch my video I posted below for reference.
- Now this is my favorite part. You get to stick your fingers in and wiggle them around to create dimples and bubbles!!! It’s the best feeling!
- Now put it in the oven after your done and it’s preheated for about 25 mins or until golden brown!!!
- I like to let it sit for 20 mins before cutting into it just cause sometimes bread products are still cooking inside when you take them out of the oven!
